September Diary Entries
I think this is the best place to start this assignment. At this point I’ve been on campus for
about 2 weeks and the students on campus have just been notified that Oneonta will be closing
down because of the rising Covid cases. The number of cases here have passed 500 and
truthfully it feels like a zombie apocalypse here. I was walking to the health center earlier today
and no one was outside. Complete opposite to my first semester here and it’s sad that college life
has to be put on hold for this virus. Talking to my mom about the situation, she’s scared that I’m
here with the risk of everything going on and she’s coming to get me tomorrow morning. I’m
happy I can see my family again and can have my own room but I’m also scared I secretly have
this virus and I’m going to give it to my family. A lot of uncertainty right now but I need to start
up my homework so I’m going to stop this entry here. I hope things get better soon.

I guess this is a good spot to continue with this. The last time I wrote something in this
assignment I was leaving Oneonta because of the rising cases of Covid. Well at that time I
thought it was an overall positive that I was going back home because I could get a job on top of
being in class. For me, I always have to be busy or else I start overflowing my head with
thoughts and it’s been about two weeks since I’ve been home and no luck with getting a job. I
applied to 5 different places near me maybe 5 days ago and I’m just hoping I’ll hear from
someone soon. Other than that I found myself following a “morning routine” and “nighttime
routine” with taking showers, brushing my teeth (right after I wake up and right before I go to
sleep). Obviously this is a good thing but this has been the only positive thing that I concluded
since being home. Let’s hope in the next diary entry I will have some type of job.

Alright so it’s the last day of September so I want to recap this month in general on top of
mentioning anything new that has happened since the last diary entry. Truthfully not much has
changed. So in the beginning of the month I returned home hoping I would get a job and save up
money to get a new car (2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee to be specific) and begin to use a credit card
to start my credit history young. Well it’s the end of the month and none of that has happened.
Right now my mindset is getting a membership to a nearby LA Fitness to start getting out of the
house more (plus I’m happy gyms are open again) and focusing on getting the highest grades
possible for this semester. I figured adding a job with 25+ hours to my schedule would just harm
what I want to do already. I wanted to ask my mom about the possibility to get paid for doing
projects around the house that needs to be done. My family is the first to never pay for working
on the house but my thought process is that if my Mom sees I’m doing well in class on top of
wanting to work she will help me out. Plus she knows the money is going straight into getting a
new car. Let’s hope she says yes to that so I can start earning money while I’m home.
